The Villa delle Grotte represents one of the most important archaeological remains from the Roman era on the island. The Roman Villa delle Grotte stands on the promontory in front of Portoferraio. Both the construction material and the decorative material bring the villa’s origin back to the Augustan age.On this occasion, the audio guide recently created with the Izi.Travel platform and available from the day of the event will be presented at the Roman Villa delle Grotte on Sunday 27 September at 5.30 pm. The initiative is aimed at promoting the use of this tool that will allow you to know and deepen, by simply installing the free app on your smartphone or tablet, the history of the archaeological site.Visitors, using the audio guide and in the company of the team of archaeologists from the University of Siena who carry out research on the site, will be accompanied to discover the environments that made up the maritime villa. At the end of the visit, the objects of common use, furniture and furnishing accessories that characterized these luxurious residences will be illustrated.It will also be possible to visit the areas within the site where archaeological excavations are currently underway.The event is organized by the Roman Villa delle Grotte Foundation with the patronage of the Municipality of Portoferraio / Department of Culture and with the collaboration of the University of Siena and the Aps Widespread Archeology Association.For information: villadellegrotte@gmail.com
